Lauren Mathews is Managing Counsel with the Firm and practices in the areas of construction law, employment law, contracts, commercial
litigation and family law.
Ms. Mathews previously served as Corporate Counsel for telecommunications company Broadwing Communications, which followed
tenures at DeHay & Elliston in Dallas and in the Texas Attorney General's Office, where she tried 35 cases
to verdict.
Prior to entering law school, Ms. Mathews owned her own business in Scottsdale, Arizona. Having owned a business
herself, Ms. Mathews understands the unique needs of business owners, including the importance of well-written contracts
(both supplier and vendor), employee hiring retention and management, as well as the value that a general counsel can bring
to business.
As Corporate Counsel, Ms. Mathews specialized in structuring, drafting and negotiating large, non-standard business deals
with Fortune 500 companies. Ms. Mathews was also responsible for overseeing litigation relating to contractual
disputes.
Ms. Mathews received her B.S. in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Arizona State University (1990) and her J.D. from
Baylor University School of Law (1994), where she was elected President of the law school (1993-94). She is an active member
of the Travis County Bar Association and numerous other professional and civic associations. Ms. Mathews is admitted
to practice law in Texas, Arizona, and the federal courts of the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western District Courts of
Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
